Rosedale Revitalization

Rosedale Revitalization

The Issue

The City of Homewood has recently received funding of $110 million for schools and future city projects. The City of Homewood has a variety of funding sources to use for projects within the city budget. Whatever the source of funds, the residents of Rosedale are asking for a fair share of city funds, to be allocated towards implementing developments in the Rosedale neighborhood and creating a more strategic comprehensive plan for the revitalization of Rosedale in areas of:

1. Housing: Housing Assistance for the Elderly and Disabled, Affordable Housing, Abatement of Blighted Property, with alternative public-private options to help residents restore property up to city code.

2. Parks and Recreation: New Lee Community Center, Spring Park and Children’s Playground.

3. Economic Development: Rosedale Business District located convenient to Rosedale with Resident Business Owners and Employees.

4. Neighborhood Beautification: Better Sanitation and Pickup of Trash, City Maintenance of Municipal Property, Community Gardens, Beautification Award Program.

5. Historic Preservation & Recognition: Lighted Signage and Gateway entrances into Rosedale from Central Ave, 18th Street & Rosedale Drive. Official city recognition of Rosedale as a Historic Neighborhood. Rosedale Historic Exhibit.

6. Infrastructure Development: Decorative Street Lighting, Decorative Street Signs, Additional Sidewalks, Street Paving, Street LED Lights, Painted Crosswalks, Push-Button Lights, Residential Speed Cameras.

7.  Referral Committee and Council Approval to Allocate funding towards a Rosedale Neighborhood Plan (similar to West Homewood Neighborhood Plan) to be included in the Homewood Master Plan.
