The Issue

Yesterday my 19-year old brother was attacked for sitting at the beach in front of our ocean-front home. He suffered injuries to his neck including a cervical sprain, neck contusions, and lacerations, requiring him to be hospitalized. The perpetrator was Louis Fugazy, a 75-year old male, who—as the video depicts—approached my brother to injure and inflict pain upon him. None of Fugazy’s family or EIA members insisted he stop. Fugazy has consistently harassed my family and me, calling us “bums,” “pieces of shit,” telling us he “will smack the shit out of us,” and “to go back where we came from.” Yesterday escalated to physical violence when he choke-slammed my teenage brother to the ground in an unprovoked attack. Afterwards, Fugazy’s family and East Island Association members—including Louis Fugazy (son of)—arrived cursing and threatening my family and me as we spoke to police officers on our own property.
The attacker, Louis Fugazy, is the father of councilwoman Danielle Fugazy Scagliola, and due to their connections with police and political figures in the City of Glen Cove, his arrest was delayed by several hours despite us having clear video evidence of the crime. This man, his relatives, and friends are a part of a racist “social club” known as the East Island Association and have openly expressed their disdain towards my family and me. Among the members of the “East Island Association” are several attorneys including the EIA President Attorney Michael A. Cervini, Attorney Amanda Fugazy, former EIA president Councilwoman Eve Luoenko Ferrante, as well as the attacker’s daughter, Councilwoman Danielle Fugazy Scagliola.
It has become increasingly obvious my family is a target of both verbal and physical harassment. These incidents will only escalate in matter and increase in frequency. Members of this family and association experience minimal to zero consequences for their criminal actions (as a result of their political connections within the City of Glen Cove court system and Police Department) and therefore have no inclination to stop. My family and I feel unsafe in our own neighborhood; we fear exiting our home knowing violent and hateful individuals live among us. Evidently, because of our race, our humanity is not valued.
I am not sharing my story for sympathy, but rather to illustrate the racism, violence, and injustice occurring in the City of Glen Cove. There must be awareness and accountability in order for justice to be served. I am disgusted to yet again have to describe an experience similar to one from earlier this summer—I was assaulted by Jacob Bolling and police refused to pursue charges, again, due to the Bolling’s relations with the East Island Association. However, these situations compel me to expose the racial violence and corruption in the City of Glen Cove. My family pays sufficient tax money to be protected, and instead, we are neglected and denied justice. The police department and council continue to defend one side—and it is not mine.

Louis Fugazy is a danger to the public and has repeatedly harassed and attacked my family and I. This is a petition of concerned people who feel those who perpetrate such crimes should be held accountable. Politically connected individuals are protecting and hindering the due process of law. Please sign this petition to make your voices heard by those in charge of City of Glen Cove.
