The City of Fullerton is proposing to make Class 2 bike lanes on the south side of Hughes Drive from Nicolas to Bastanchury, which will become a NO STOPPING ZONE based on the recommendation from the Transportation & Circulation Commission. Class 2 bike lanes mean there will be a designated striped bike lane and NO PARKING at all. This means, NO PARKING IN FRONT OF THE STANDARD PACIFIC HOMES on Hughes Dr. This will not only affect the residents along Hughes Dr. but will also create overflow parking issues in the immediate private streets of Amerige Heights.
This is listed as Public Hearing Agenda #7 via City of Fullerton website for the 7/18/2017 city council meeting. However, it is recommended by Public Works Department to discuss on 8/01/2017. Once the city passes this proposal either on 7/18/2017 or 8/01/17, there is the future potential of extending the Class 2 bike lanes through Hughes Drive all the way to Gilbert St. If this should happen, the Arborland Montessori School will experience a major parking issue as parents need to use these lanes to park and drop off their children safely. This proposal does more harm to the residents while creating excessive parking complications. Also, this adds additional variables to the safety for pedestrians (especially our children), bikers, and motorists. PLEASE, SUPPORT THIS PETITION TO OPPOSE THE BIKE LANE PROPOSAL!!!
