Amanda Reeves started this petition to Mayor and Alderman of Frederick, MD and

The next meeting to determine the fate of Terrace Lanes 10 pin bowling center located at 12 West College Terrace in Frederick, MD is December 2nd at 7PM in the City Hall Boardroom! We are asking that you please attend this meeting to voice your concerns about the possible demolition of the bowling center and determination of placing a historic overlay on the property!

The Board of Aldermen has final approval authority to designate boundaries of sites or structures of historic, archeological, or architectural significance by establishing a Historic Preservation Overlay Zone. In this process the HPC and the Planning Commission are recommending bodies.

The proposed plan from current ownership is to sell and demolish the center along with the shopping center located behind it. This is NOT a done deal at this time! If this plan goes through many staff members who have invested years of their lives, bowlers who have dedicated decades to the sport of bowling in this center, Youth Bowlers dependent on scholarships and experience, members of the community who attend the center regularly or for special occasions will be affected.

The Center has Leagues for Senior Bowlers on Tuesday and Thursday and an abundance of other leagues Sunday-Friday Nights. The center also hosts several Collegiate Tournaments, Maryland State Tournaments, Mid-Maryland USBC Tournaments, Senior Tournaments and Special Olympics bowling events throughout the year. This will affect many bowlers and families throughout the state of Maryland.

Bowlers come from surrounding areas including Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia just to bowl in the leagues held there during the week. The loss of Terrace Lanes will have a huge impact on the community. There are no other Ten Pin bowling centers that hold leagues or tournaments within a 30-mile radius.

The bowling community needs your help to get our voices heard. Please help if you can by signing the petition to SAVE TERRACE LANES!

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Thank you!
