The Issue

PLEASE SHARE! With our lives changing rapidly and our economy on hold, we really need the support of our local governments and politicians to immediately help lessen the burden on our working class community. With many people having to work and school from home, as well as sheltering-in-place and some even having to quarantine, we expect our monthly utility bills to climb. We are asking the City of Fort Collins and Mayor Wade Troxell to find a way to help alleviate this added pressure on our community, and find a way to postpone 3x Time-of-Day pricing during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Last year, the City of Fort Collins moved the way that they bill utilities to a “time-of-day” pricing system where the price of utilities is over 3x the normal price during certain peak hours. The peak hours are 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. from October through April and 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. from May through September. Weekends and major holidays aren't included in the peak hour pricing. The City of Fort Collins also has an operating budget of over $550 million annually. We see immediate opportunity for assistance and economic relief via our monthly utility bill. Please join us as we organize to help find ways to help our local citizens during these trying times.
