At the September 25th City Council meeting, there will be two items relating to University Drive:

1) During the regular meeting, there will be a Public Hearing on the design of the University Drive Extension in Northfax. This is a presentation of the 60% design and is the last opportunity for the public to review the almost-final design for the project and provide comments. If there is any chance to prevent the cut-thru from moving forward, this is the last chance.

Also, wanted to share this staff report from 2011 (see concept #6) that proves that the University Extension was always intended to divert traffic onto University Drive from its earliest conception. While this project has been reframed as part of commercial development of Northfax to garner support, clearly the Whole Foods 365 can build their own entry into the shopping center without extending University Drive as public right of way.

2) During the work session after the meeting, there will be a discussion about traffic calming on University Drive. There will not be an opportunity for public comment during this item. Note that none of the traffic calming measures proposed do anything to limit or restrict the increased traffic volume that will result from the cut-thru. Some of the proposed ideas (e.g., sidewalks) won't impact traffic conditions at all.

Please make every effort to attend IN PERSON on September 25th to voice your opinion. There are several new council members who may not be aware of the nearly unanimous opposition that came out last year. Our elected officials are supposed to represent us so let's show them that we're still paying attention.
