For a long time it has been known that the solution to Detroit's Discarded Dog problem has fallen to volunteers, citizens and rescue shelters. Not Detroit Animal Control. The current leadership under Harry Ward, city employee has failed miserably! A current bureaucratic move by DAC to investigate rescue organizations throughout the city of Detroit is laughable at best! I'm asking for the city to put an emergency stay on this offensive by DAC allowing shelters time to comply with paperwork etc... I am also asking the city for a focus group to be formed bringing local community leaders and rescue directors together to come up with a plan to oversee and manage the Detroit Animal Control facility! It's time there was a board running that place! Case in point the DAC description of services currently reads on Facebook "pest control" For a long time these rescues have brought a positive light to Detroit, but it has been an accidental smoke screen. Diluting the atrocities and cruel acts toward lost, mistreated and abandoned pets using our tax dollars! The DAC opened a can of worms, Detroit is coming back with a can of whoop ass! Goodbye Mr. Ward!
