Terminate John Chesnut's Employment from Decatur High School
The Issue
On December 7, 2022, a white male teacher by the name of John Chesnut at Decatur High School used a racial slur three times back to back in a class to over 20 students. When told he should not use that word by another student, he stated he "can say whatever he wants".
Although the school and principal Rochelle Lofstrand have released apologies, this is not enough.
John Chesnut has received no administrative leave.
He has not been fired.
He has not received ANY legitimate punishment.
Silence is violence.
The black student body does not feel comfortable with a man who used a slur with over 500 years of history behind it teaching us daily.
