The City of DeBary has planned to acquire 102 acres of conservation land between Gemini Springs and Lake Monroe with the goal of developing a master stormwater system, multi family and single family housing, commercial and lodging. This land was acquired with FDOT funding as mitigation for environmental damage during Interstate 4 construction and was deeded to stay in conservation. The environmental impact to Gemini Springs has not been considered in this process. Gemini is designated an "Outstanding Spring" by the state and work is being done on the state level to improve its already polluted waters. Developing the Gemini Springs Addition, as this land is known by, is not in line with this goal and conservation land should be forever, not forever until we want to develop it. If you want to save this land, keep our Spring to Spring trail experience as is, and protect the habitat please sign this petition and add a note as to why this is important to you for the City Council's consideration. This land belongs to the people of Florida, not just DeBary. Please note what city you are from to reflect the concern of everyone statewide.
