Stop Wal-Mart and their destruction of the Cottage View Drive In

The Cottage View Drive-In is the one of the two last remaining drive-ins in the Twin Cities Metro area, and one of the most historic roadside landmarks in the Twin Cities. Its sign is on of the best and last remnants of whimsical roadside architecture in the Twin Cities. Places like the Cottage View Drive In remind us of a time that has passed us by, and its destruction would rob us and future generations of this historical legacy.

Wal-Mart is unneeded and unwanted in the city, as it only creates low-wage jobs and places strains on city finances. There are already Wal-Marts in Hastings and Woodbury, and this additional location is unnecessary. In the interest of saving our past and overruling suburban sameness, we encourage the city of Cottage Grove to take the bold step that the cities of Ham Lake, Mn and Chanhassen, Mn have taken in saying NO to Wal-Mart in the interest of community, identity, fairness for all, and saving the history of the community.
