The Issue

Like many thousands of daily commuters, I commute daily to Irvine and unfortunately my only quickest channel to get on 91 Fwy is through Green River. At one point it felt like a dream come true having foothill connecting to Green river but that was shortlived and never thought that would fade away this quickly. Due to one car per green light at Green river/91 W Fwy ramp my commute which is usually 35-45 minutes takes somewhere around 1hr 30 mins to 2 hrs. Other than causing delays I don't think those ramp lights are serving any purpose. Recent and currently ongoing experiments of Caltrans in collaboration with Corona city with "No lights versus Two cars/green light versus One car/green light" clearly exposed the common choke point in all scenarios. This may be partly because people not being aware of 2 car/green light rule but mostly because of the inherent and intrinsic problem of thousands of cars being constantly stopped by the ramp lights at a single point during the busiest time of the day. This is clearly leading to a domino effect on all other local streets connecting to 91 which is backed up from various points. The dream of a happy American suburb healthy clean life and a proud tag of being a Corona resident is all but nullified with a daily commute of over 2 hours one way. If this continues then many in thousands like me have no choice but to move out of Corona for favorable and commutable locations. My humble request to the Mayor, City of Corona, Council members, Caltrans, Ken Calvert, various district members, and to whomever it might concern who have the voice and power to bring in the change to please look into this issue. Also, I would like to ask all my fellow Corona residents to come out in huge numbers and sign and share this petition so we can make our voices heard.
