Ask any resident of the city of Conway what the worst intersection in town is and they'll all tell you the same thing: the Front/Spruce Street Disaster. Located just south of the main Hendrix College campus, the tragic intersection of Front Street and Spruce Street is the source of countless near-collisions and numerous traffic accidents every year, all because of its unusual layout and lack of proper signage. Due to these flaws in its design, motorists are often left unsure of how to properly proceed through the intersection, especially when other vehicles are crossing paths. Both long-time residents of Conway and Hendrix students new to the city can agree that the disaster that is the Front/Spruce Street intersection could be effectively eliminated with one simple solution: build a roundabout. The city of Conway loves nothing more than a good roundabout--so much so that its residents lovingly have suggested its motto be changed from the City of Colleges to the City of Roundabouts. A roundabout at the Front/Spruce intersection would greatly improve the flow of traffic and reduce the number of accidents and near-collisions every year. Let's do the right thing and fix the Front/Spruce Street Disaster!
