2020 introduced a virus the world was not prepared for . The virus has lead to many changes , adaptations and compromises . These changes have lead to many high school seniors having the most important moments in their high school career stripped from them . No prom no graduation . I couldn’t imagine what it’s like to work so hard to do what your suppose to do to complete school and then when it’s time to celebrate your hard work , you can’t . Instead of this moment being a negative smear in history i believe we can make it a teachable moment . One final high school lesson and the beginning of the real world lessons. In life you have to adapt , compromise , communicate and accept the things you can not change . With that being said students , parents and community members have to adapt to the fact life will not be the same from here on with this virus . To give a prom at this moment could be disastrous . Here’s where compromise comes in . One of the most memorable moments for prom is line up . Line up gives the ability to get dressed and feel good . The ability to be seen by your loved ones and peers. The unique thing with adapting to this virus and compromising is that a lineup can be effectively achieved . Outdoor provides efficient parking in which spacing is behind 6ft of each other . I propose a lineup where the seniors can get out and stand at the backs of their cars at a given location . It will be articulated to them the importance of staying at your car and enforced by staff. While the seniors are at their cars their loved ones and peers can drive through ( must stay in their cars) and take pictures of their seniors from inside of their cars. This has been displayed that thousands of people can drive through a given area within a matter of time efficiently recently with this pandemic happening. For example the food bank give away. Perfect example of adapting and compromising . From lines of people standing waiting , to cars pulling through . It is displayed that hundreds of people can be in a given area with 6ft rules effectively. For example Walmart and having its 1000 people max rule . This is where communication with community comes in . We can effectively communicate the importance of giving our seniors a moment that HAS NEVER BEEN DONE BEFORE. A memory none of us had. Being celebrated during a moment that is saddening the world . Surviving a pandemic . A perfect compromise to give the seniors their moment all while safely following rules and doing the exact things that are being done by corporations every day . As a community we must come together and support our seniors . They must feel the love through this moment and know we stand with them along this journey .
