200 signature is amazing – thank you, thank you, thank you!
Under half of those 200 were able to share the petition.
In marketing, a recommendation for something has far more influence than if it didn’t have a recommendation.
Literally this concept was written in a seminal marketing text called “Influence” (ironic, right) by Robert Cialdini in 1984…
It’s called Social Proof: simply, people will do things that they see other people doing.
If someone see you sign a petition, they are more likely to also sign it than if they didn’t see you sign it.
That is the principle, and it is even more effective when the person seeing you sign a petition also has the same need: vert skaters know other vert skaters.
The way you can show people you signed it, it by sharing the petition!
That is the number on concern people have – “how do I share the petition?”
Change.org makes it easy to share via their buttons.
Go to https://www.change.org/VertSnotDead and click one of them:
- Facebook (your personal wall, or a skater, scooter and rider group you are part of);
- Twitter;
- WhatsApp; and
- Email and target individual skater, scooter and BMX rider friends.
You can also copy the link (https://www.change.org/VertSnotDead) to:
- SMS and target individual skater, scooter and BMX rider friends;
- Put it in your Instagram bio for 24 hours accompanied by an Instagram Story or Post;
- Put it in your TikTok bio;
- Put it in your YouTube bio;
- And so on…
Other objections to sharing include…
Concern 1
I don't want people to know I supported it.
Answer 1
If you left the ticked “Display my name and comment on this petition” your name is already publicly attached to the petition, so share it amongst your friends anyway: https://www.change.org/VertSnotDead
Concern 2
I don’t know what to write to accompany the link.
Answer 2
Just post the link! We are not writing ad copy to sell a Lamborghini: https://www.change.org/VertSnotDead But if you want to write something accompanying the link, just say you signed it and you’d love other who would use it to also sign. Or story is best – literally write how you found the petition, why you decided to sign, what you did (signed the petition) and what the result was (200 shares etc).
Concern 3
I don’t have time to share it.
Answer 3
If you have read this far, you have wasted more time than it takes to share! All you need to do is click a few buttons. You’d be done by now: https://www.change.org/VertSnotDead

If it is not obvious enough already share this https://www.change.org/VertSnotDead and remember “people will do things that they see other people doing“ especially if they also have the same unfulfilled need.
