Reduce the road speed to 60 km/h from Glencairn to Scarborough

Reduce the road speed to 60 km/h from Glencairn to Scarborough
The Issue
We live in a biosphere. This means we share the space with many wild animals, birds and living beings from snakes to baboons to penguins, guinea fowl, owls, mongoose, caracal, tortoise, porcupine and buck. Many of these animals are killed, injured and maimed by speeding motorists who have no chance to stop in time should an animal cross the road. This is needless and many of these killings can be prevented. We wish for the speed limit to be reduced to 60 km/h and possibly 40 km/h in some hotspots where animals are known to cross the road. As a community we believe we should live in harmony with these animals and that means doing what is within our power to prevent death and injury. There are many visitors to our parts and a much reduced speed limit will go a long way in preventing deaths of these animals. The City of Cape Town and the law enforcement arm are able to motivate for such a change. The stretch of road is home to all these animals and several troops of baboons, many who have been killed over the years. We would like this to stop.
