The proposed covid vaccine mandate on Year 12 students to attend the Dunsborough Leavers event is unjustified and unjustifiable.  We call on the City of Busselton, Mayor Grant Henley and the Councillors, to support an event that is open to ALL Year 12 students.  If necessary, Rapid Antigen Testing can be used as an alternative to the vaccine.

- There is no community covid currently in Western Australia.

- Adolescents are at a near zero risk of hospitalisation and death from covid and are a low risk of spreading covid.

- Rapid Antigen Testing is currently being used at the Busselton Airport as an acceptable method of determining a covid infection.

- The Busselton Ironman is on the week following Leavers, attracting a similar number of people to the area, yet there is no mandate for this event.

- All current covid vaccines are under emergency authorisation and have yet to received full approval and complete clinical trials.  There is no medium to long term health studies available.

- Support freedom of choice.  Please stand up for our young people to make informed decisions as they and their families see fit.
