remove snow from sidewalks
After every snowfall, citizens, including school children, are forced to walk on treacherous snow covered sidewalks or in the streets. Persons with disabilities, parents with strollers, people dependent upon public transportation, are endangered if the sidewalks are not cleared. Pedestrians in Buffalo are unfairly dependent upon individuals to clear sidewalks leaving them vulnerable to hazardous pathways for their transportation thoroughfare to work, school, shopping, etc.—i.e., sidewalks. Buffalo’s neighbor to the east, Rochester, plows sidewalks at the public expense. We request that the City of Buffalo do the same. We ask that the appropriate departments of the City of Buffalo consult with the City of Rochester, and the departments of similar cities, that are responsible for the snow removal from sidewalks. It is time for Buffalo to explore ways to truly serve its citizenry in a progressive way, look to other cities for best practices and solutions, and implement them. Mayor Brown, please help make Buffalo a safer place to live, work, and walk. Clear Buffalo’s sidewalks of snow.
