Recently, there have been more pushes for a "bike friendly" city in Buffalo. And indeed, the city has been open to more bike lanes, new laws protecting cyclists, etc. According to a WBEN article (http://www.wben.com/How-Bike-Friendly-is-Buffalo-/21547464), Buffalo is becoming a very Bike-Friendly city, with great new lanes, laws, and awareness campaigns. This is great...for the actual ride....

....but what to do with the bike at your destination...when there's no place to lock it up! I don't know about you folks, but I don't really like having to circle around trying to find a pole or fence, especially if its in an area where my bike is bound to be stolen, like on a busy sidewalk. Some businesses have installed bike racks, which are perfect. Close by the building, sturdy, and right where you need them. Others...have not really considered, and so we bikers must find a tree or post.

To make it short..I am petitioning the City of Buffalo, and its mayor, Byron Brown, to build upon the works of the group GOBikeBuffalo and have large, city funded bike parking racks installed in many locations, perhaps outside the city into the suburbs such as Amherst or Cheektowaga, so we cyclists can have a safe, easy place to park. Not only would this encourage more people to ride, but would allow those who do to be able to stop and shop at local businesses.
