Boroondara Council - meeting held on 28th October 2019

Good Evening all,

There was a Boroondara council meeting held last night and one of the Agenda items was the redevelopment of the new KRC. In this meeting, the council was presented with a new set of plans for the new build of the centre. The revised plans that were presented last night, had been redesigned to address the main concerns/issues that the council had recieved from the community in the consultation period. Our petition was also submitted formally to the councillors for their information.

The best thing about the revised plans are that these plans INCLUDE A CRECHE/CHILDCARE FACILITY (along with some other changes), however, there is now a Childcare facility in the plans which is exactly what we all wanted & have worked towards!

The council also had to increase their budget of the redevelopment by $2 million to allow for the design changes that they have made to the centre, which apparently was also agreed to in the meeting.

I am waiting on the council to give me a formal response in writing to our petition, and when I have this formal response, I will let you all know the details and close off the petition - however, this is what I was advised of today (verbally).

I was just so happy and I am extremely grateful to each and every one of you for your support on this petition and for all your time and effort in making this petition stand out to council. We have made a difference!
