Lift ban on "electronic" music shows

This upcoming October would have marked the fourth annual Bloomington stop on Bassnectar's (a.k.a. Lorin Ashton) fall tour. Due to an increase in arrests and hospital visits for drug related incidents on the night of the show last year, the city of Bloomington has decided that they will no longer allow "electronic" music shows, and Bassnectar will not be returning to Bloomington in 2014.
While it is unfortunate that some of the people that attended acted in a way that resulted in their arrest or a need to go to the hospital, this is not an issue that is confined to electronic music, and this kind of behavior can be expected from some of those attending any type of large concert.
Electronic music in general has been stereotyped to involve drug usage, however Lorin on multiple occasions has expressed to his fans that he hopes they enjoy the experience without the influence of drugs. He promotes happiness and healthiness and that is what people come for. The irresponsible actions of a few that attend the shows should not prevent everyone else from enjoying a one of a kind experience of community and celebrating being alive.
