Extend outdoor dining seating for the restaurants in the City of Birmingham

The Issue

We, the undersigned, support the extension of outdoor dining seating for the restaurants in the City of Birmingham.  We understand that the City previously approved additional seating for restaurants under a Covid-19 resolution, which is set to expire on June 30 2021.

The additional outdoor dining for restaurants has been a lifeline for small businesses during an extremely difficult time.

We believe that restaurants should be able to use the extended outdoor dining until the end of the normal outdoor dining season, which we understand to be November of 2021.

The extended outdoor dining is greatly appreciated by us, the customers.  Outdoor dining in the City has provided us with excellent choices to dine in the downtown and to patronize other businesses, all of which have suffered greatly.

We therefore support Hazel, Ravines & Downtown’s request to have the Birmingham City Commission extend the outdoor dining approved under the Covid-19 resolution.
