If you've ever been to Chicago, you know that people there take a lot of pride in their city flag. Not only does nearly every building seem to wave one from their flag pole, but the iconic 4 red stars between two light blue stripes can be seen on T-shirts, backpacks, and of course, cornhole boards (although there they call it bags). The Chicago flag is great source for city pride and looks good to boot, which is why I want to make a flag for my home, Bethlehem.

Our city has a rich history and some fantastic symbols, so it just makes sense for us to put those symbols on a banner for us all to rally around. I've been working on a design to present but ideally we could have a design contest. I want this flag to represent all of our city, so I'd love to see other design ideas from other perspectives too.

I know there are some people who might think that getting a flag for our city would be a waste of resources, but the city would only have to pay to print them and hang them up. And local businesses could potentially make some extra money selling other flag memorabilia.

The City of Bethlehem is important to me. I think we deserve a great flag just as much as Chicago or Portland or Indianapolis. We may not be as large as those cities, but with a city flag, we sure could feel it.

Plus we get a chance to show up Philly who just slapped their city seal on a tarp and called it a day.
