Time to listen to your ratepayers regarding the Frank Drago Reserve re-development
The issue
We the residents of the City of Bayswater are strongly opposed to the re-development of Frank Drago Reserve in the context presented in the proposed Master Plan (April 2015).
We believe the Master Plan presented to residents by the City of Bayswater and AECOM was developed without sufficient community consultation; unequal input from the four sporting precincts and resulted in a plan which community could not appropriately comment or be confident due diligence for future community needs would be represented therewith.
Ratepayers of the City of Bayswater only support an equitable Master Plan which incorporates below:
- 1) Ensures the current grass reserve remains as public open space, accessible for passive recreation and unrestricted public use.
- 2) No rate or levy increase to fund the development.
- 3) Ensures adequate parking is allocated to all clubs - relevant to planned spectators / competitors ensuring no overflow or congestion of street parking in adjacent streets.
- 4) Incorporates a comprehensive traffic, lighting and noise management plan/s to ensure neighbourhood safety and liveability are not compromised for surrounding households;
- 5) Promotes and protects areas of community character and enjoyment - whilst duly promoting a sense of community.
- 6) Is in keeping with the City of Bayswater’s mission statement –‘The Garden City’ to promote the provision of natural surfaces, protects existing trees where practicable and promotes green spaces.
- 7) No encroachment to current boundaries and areas of Tennis and Croquet.
- 8) Final development design to be in consultation with all groups’ equal – sporting clubs (4) and Bayswater Community Representative group.
