LATEST UPDATE ON THE EXTERNAL AUDIT CHARTER AMENDMENT EFFORT

We have 29 (!) days left and have collected 4,000 signed petitions from Austin residents. This is 16% of the signed petitions we need by Jan. 15, 2026.

Our external performance audit amendment is modeled after Houston’s successful version, and it requires:

� An external performance audit of the entire city budget, all utilities, and the Austin Transit Partnership (Project Connect entity)
� That the audit be conducted by an outside vend or who must be selected with 120 days of passage, and the audit must be conducted within one year of the vendor being selected
� That the vendor produces recommended savings totaling AT LEAST the cost of the project (making it cost neutral)
� Requiring this audit be conducted NO LESS than every five years
� Requiring that this external audit must be completed NO LESS than one year before any future Tax Rate Election

Perhaps most importantly, it will probe WHERE HOMELESS SPENDING IS GOING, WHAT WE ARE GETTING FOR IT, and the probe will include vendors and subvendors.
