Jul 22, 2019 —

The response to our online petition to rescind the disastrous homeless camping ordinance in Austin has been extraordinary.

With no advertising whatsoever, in just four days we have amassed well over 10,000 signatures.

To help promote this effort, I appeared on the 'Todd and Don show' on KLBJ on Friday morning and sat for interviews with KXAN NBC 36, KVUE ABC 24 and KTBC Fox 7.

I want to sincerely thank you for supporting this effort!

We need to keep pushing. We want to present the largest possible number of signatures at the August 8 City Council meeting.

Here's how you can help:

1) Post about this effort on your social media accounts -- Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. You can post a sample message like this:

Please help us overturn the Homeless Camping Ordinance in Austin. Sign and share:

2) Post about this effort on NextDoor -- Please make sure your neighborhood has a post about the petition. I posted in my neighborhood on Friday night and the response has been outstanding.

3) Contact me directly if you need to -- My email address is I am posting updates periodically via my Twitter account (@MattMackowiak).
