Austin Police Department is known for using excessive force far too often. Instead of granting them another 442 million dollars to abuse their citizens (more often than not, people of color), Austin needs to defund the APD and allocate those funds towards underprivileged communities and low income neighborhoods, so that tax payers dollars actually make a difference in the city of Austin. Racial inequality in our area is unacceptable, and since APD is not doing nearly enough to change that, we the people need to take a large portion of their budget and do it ourselves.
