Recently, I read an article in the Augusta newspaper about cleaning up Downtown Augusta. The article specifically targeted the area where The Godfather Of Soul, Mr James Brown’s statue stands and happily smiles upon the city. 

I decided to reach out to city officials letting them know this was a fantastic idea and I would be more than happy to get involved. 

I received a short reply in response, but nothing concrete.  I want to see this happen and I would love to be a part of it. 

Mrs Brown Thomas, Brown’s daughter has carried on her father’s legacy by creating the James Brown Academy for Musik Pupils, which is according to the website “a non-profit musical village that operates solely on small grants, donations and tuition. J.A.M.P!’s intentions are to motivate, educate and inspire children through the universal language of music and enrich their hidden musical abilities.” (https://jamesbrownfamilyfdn.org/online/index.php/j-a-m-p

Downtown Augusta would benefit from a revamp and clean up of this area while incorporating JAMP into a newer design.  People from all over the world come to visit Mr. Brown’s statue and creating a new and improved environment around this site would not only encourage people to find out more on JAMP, it would also create a beautiful historical piece that ties together the past and present. 

I urge you to sign my petition that will be presented to the city council.
