This is a petition to encourage the city of Arlington, Wa to be a leader in our state for animal welfare by enacting laws which limit the tethering of dogs. Other cities and states have enacted such laws which declare a time limit that a dog could be tied to a stationary object. Allowing animal control to educate those in violation to adopt better methods of containment which are more humane to the dog. Many of the areas with said laws have had great success with enforcement of the law. They have stated the law works. Dogs left tied 24/7 with little interaction or care suffer greatly. Many are neglected medically. Most of these dogs live a life that would be similar to solitary confinent. Constantly tethered dogs bexome depressed and frustrated and pose a greater risk of aggression. Many are simply losing their minds. We are not asking the city to ban tethering, but to follow what other locations have done and set limits. We need to protect mans best friend. It's time for a change Arlington. Let's show the state how its done! Break the chain!
