The Issue

Petition to the City of Ann Arbor and the University of Michigan:

We ask that you give homeless people a place to sleep, uninterrupted, for at least 8 hours per day, so their bodies function normally. Read more about the damaging health effects of homelessness here: https://housethehomeless.org/sleep-loss-a-pervasive-and-underrated-problem/

Symptoms:

Irritability, cognitive impairment, memory lapses or loss, impaired moral judgement, severe yawning, hallucinations, symptoms similar to ADHD, impaired immune system, risk of diabetes (Type 2), increased heart rate variability, risk of heart disease, decreased reaction time and accuracy, tremors, aches, growth suppression, risk of obesity, decreased temperature, reduced sex drive, risk of depression.

We also ask that all able bodied residents of Ann Arbor team up to directly build more houses and apartments, to attract young professionals to the area, instead of pushing them away. This way people will not feel afraid of becoming homeless as certain corporations want us to be afraid. Also the average home price will go down, and everyone will be happier.
