Amarillo Poker Club

Amarillo Poker Club
The Issue
Amarillo, Texas has been home to many great people for years on end. Some of the most honorable people you will ever meet live in Amarillo and the Texas panhandle. The citizens of Amarillo stick together and support each other better than any other community I have ever seen.
With this being said, there is a new business that needs the help of the Amarillo and Texas panhandle community. Amarillo Poker Club is a social club where people can go to escape the stress of their everyday lives. People can come here to socialize and meet new people within the community. There are 15 large TV’s to watch sporting events, play simulated golf, 6 poker tables, and play dominoes, darts, chess, and billiards. Amarillo Poker Club is founded and created by Charlie Adkins and Justin Biddle. Charlie Adkins previously owned Lights off Golf in Westgate Mall and currently owns Adkins Lawn Care. Charlie grew up in Tulia, Texas and has lived in Amarillo for nearly 25 years. Justin Biddle Owns Neighbors Lounge in Amarillo. Justin grew up in Amarillo and attended West Texas A&M University. If you know either of these two men they are as honorable as it gets.
As many of you know, the city of Amarillo attorney decided it was illegal to open even though they are running the exact same as the 100+ other poker clubs in Texas. This meeting came after endless phone calls and emails with City officials. Just for the city to meet and discuss the issue took over 2 months. Amarillo Poker Club has been in the works and under construction behind Sharky’s since September. The City of Amarillo attorney did not consider the business legal.
There are currently over 100 legal poker rooms in the state of Texas. Amarillo Poker Club follows the exact same rules as all of these poker clubs, but the city of Amarillo considers it illegal.
Amarillo officials commonly speak of advancement and change in Amarillo. It is saddening that the city has not taken their time to consider all of the laws at play in this situation. This business will bring in people from all around the panhandle. Many Amarillo small businesses will prosper off of the opening of Amarillo Poker Club.
Taking in all of the things said above, we ask you to consider signing the petition to bring awareness to the situation. Your support can help change the narrative of the city of Amarillo and show the city how much support Amarillo Poker Club and all local small business have.
Thank you for your support of Amarillo Poker Club.
