According to an article released by Albuquerque Business First, a large vacant parcel in the Heights area near Kirtland Air Force Base (10401 Pocono Road SE) is potentially going to be targeted for data center development. Given the assumption that it would be for AI purposes, there's already plenty on how they've damaged communities (e.g. the Colossus data center in Memphis, Tennessee). Not only would this data center development cause pollution in the nearby communities (and especially Albuquerque), but it would make our ongoing drought significantly due to the typical high usage of water that a data center requires.

For this reason, we  beg you to do the following:

1. Do not approve anything related to developing data centers in this lot in the Heights.
2. Place a moratorium on data centers throughout Bernalillo County and the City of Albuquerque.
3. Consider other usages of the lot that could benefit to the public. One idea could be to turn it into an open space.
