Ashtin Rhymer started this petition to City Mayor and

This year was the 17th Annual Mountain City Sunflower Festival and per the city council we were granted the full street for our event of 180+ vendors. A 12 hour period where the street was closed for the event. 2 business owners on the street complained about the event blocking their businesses. Both have alternate entrances and exits, and 1 was given the opportunity to move his tow trucks for better access before the event started, he declined. This business is not open on Saturdays and  the other business is only open until 12pm on Saturdays. Now the City Council wants us to make alternative plans for our future festivals and make it so difficult we move it off main street entirely.
This festival brings people from all over the country to spend their day and money in our town. We need this for growth and prosperity in our county. Please sign this petition and show the mayor and council members we need this event to stay on Main Street and that we need the whole street to make it a success for the community. We want to grow this festival even bigger and better than last year. With your help we can show the Mayor and Council members that this festival is important to the town and the people who reside in it. Our local businesses, small business vendors, and our people need this event for income as well as for something fun for the whole family. This is a learning experience for everyone and we are more than willing to accommodate reasonable needs for our business owners, so that we can continue to give our home town the best festival, they deserve by blocking the entire main street for 1 day of the year.

Please sign our petition and call our local city Mayor Jerry Jordan, as well as our City Council members; Lawrence Keeble, Vice Mayor Jerry Horne, Dustin Shearin, and Bud Crosswhite and let them know just how much this festival means to the town and how they need to continue to allow us to have the entire main street for 1 day of the year for our festival.
