Leonardo Penilla started this petition to City Manager

Recently a decision to tear down the handball courts at Chepa’s Park was made. Santa Ana residents and members of the city council were not made aware this decision and were not given a chance to prevent this calamity from happening. Multiple attempts to tear down the courts were made, the most recent was 2016, and each attempt were foiled due to the community’s support for the handball courts. The handball courts have served as a tool to reach the “at-risk” youth and steer them in the right direction. In 2015 Nick Alvidrez was recognized by members of the Santa Ana city Council for his work with “at-risk” youth and creativity to use the handball courts as a tool to help said youth.  Some of these “at-risk” youth have graduated with college degrees, are law enforcement officers, engineers, government workers, and most importantly, contribute to society in a positive and respectable manner. Some of these “at-risk” youth are now adults and were hoping to reach out to Santa Ana youth and help them in the same manner as before. School faculty, city officials, Santa Ana residents, and history records can vouch for the positive contributions the handball courts have had on the Logan community.
