Repeal or amend the Hookah Ban (§ 280-45.3) in Glen Cove

The Issue

1. City Government should not have to the power to ban a business from our city arbitrarily
2. The arbitrary ban of any business shows that the city follows a 'guilty-until-proven-innocent-policy' when it comes to businesses it deems undesirable.
3. If City Government truly cared about lung cancers then why does it allow multiple tobacconists to operate in the city unmolested.
4. City Government claims it needs to keep tobacco away from children, strangely one of the aforementioned tobacconists is located less 400m from Robert M. Finley Middle School.
5. No other legal business has been subjected to such an arbitrary ban in City history.
6. Hookah Bars (or Lounges) are a feature of night life like any other. In that way they are subject to laws restricting the age of patron.
7. City Government has shown that they are willing to stand in the way of development and ban any business they deem undesirable without any other reason.
8. A hookah bar (or the ability to open one at least) would simply be a nice feature of the downtown nightlife that would draw patrons who would inevitably spend money in the community
