Stand Up to the FAA by the October 28, 2016 Deadline

Stand Up to the FAA by the October 28, 2016 Deadline

The Issue

On August 29, 2016 the FAA issued a Finding of No Significant Impact and Record of Decision (FONSI/ROD) for the SoCal MetroplexProject.

What this means for the citizens and families of Culver City is that what you see and hear in the skies above you day and night will not only become the norm, but it will only get WORSE as LAX increases the number of operations into and out of its airport year after year after year, as it has proposed.

If the FAA does not hear from the City of Culver City by October 28, 2016, we will have accepted the FAA's FONSI/ROD by default.

The clock is ticking down for the City Council of Culver City to TAKEACTION in the form of filing comments against the FAA’s Environmental Assessment and/or SUING the FAA as other cities across the country have done when the federal agency has displayed a similar wanton disregard for the safety, health and quality of life of the citizens living under its new NextGen flight paths.

If we take no action, we let the FAA redefine what it means to live in Culver City, we let the FAA cover our homes, our schools and our parks in more harmful and unregulated airplane exhaust UFPs (ultra-fine particles) and we rely on the FAA to dictate when we are allowed to get a good night’s sleep and when we will be hammered throughout the night with the thundering overhead of late-night arrivals.

The window is closing quickly and we need the City Council of Culver City to take IMMEDIATE action. The FAA’s NextGenprocedures will begin being implemented starting in November 2016 and will continue through April 2017.

The time to act is NOW!

We implore you to use all your power, influence, and connections to protect the citizens of Culver City.

Respectfully,
Parents and Residents of Culver City
