Install surveillance cameras at Arlington Cemetery in Homer, La.
The Issue
- I, Katie Lewis, speaking on the behalf of (the community), am starting this petition as a formal request to our city council and the town of Homer, La to install surveillance cameras at Arlington Cemetery located in Homer, La.
As a victim of thefts at my loved ones’ graves, it has also been made aware that other families are suffering at the same heartbreaking acts of robbery and vandalism at their loved ones’ grave sites as well. Not only are these financial losses (ex: solar lights, memorabilia, floral arrangements etc.), but more importantly it’s the sadness we feel by the disrespect at our loved ones’ resting places.
- We are not asking for the CCTV to be monitored 24/7, but recorded for later reference, and would also like to respectfully ask (for the privacy of others while any services being held at the Arlington Cemetery) that the CCTV not be monitored and/or recorded during those times (unless preferred or requested otherwise). More so importantly, the recording/monitoring of CCTV before and after hours.
- In the event of these acts (robbery, vandalism) possibly recurring, we would like to have the capability of knowing that when or if something does happen, there’s hope that something could be done about it and maybe help put a stop to the pain it’s causing the families.
