Ask the City of Corcoran to keep its residents and neighbors safe.
The Issue
Eagle Brook Church is asking the City of Corcoran for a Conditional Use Permit to build a 70,000 square foot, 1,500-person building in a low-density residential area. The proposed structure will be at the northwest intersection of Hackamore Lane and County Road 101. It will also have an 850-car parking lot adjacent to the Ravinia neighborhood. For reference, this structure is larger than the Plymouth Cub Foods building and the parking lot is larger than the Medina Target complex.
The anticipated neighborhood impacts include heavy church traffic on Saturday evenings, Sunday mornings, and Wednesday evenings as well as potential new weekday activities as the church grows. Weekday activities could directly compete with rush hour traffic forcing an already congested County Road 116 and County Road 101 to come to a standstill, especially with future growth.
The unique location of the property proposed for development affects four cities (Maple Grove, Plymouth, Medina, and Corcoran). Additionally, overflow traffic on 101 could cut through the neighborhood streets of the Ravinia, Wild Meadows, and Bonaire neighborhoods, creating unsafe environments for children and pets. The proposed development creates substantial bottlenecks in traffic and raises a multitude of privacy and safety concerns for residents.
The application for conditional approval by the Planning Commission in Corcoran will occur on July 2, 2020, at 7 pm. Please sign this petition for the City of Corcoran to reject this application unless corresponding improvements are made to County Road 101 and County Road 116 AND the proposed building is scaled down to match available infrastructure. The City of Corcoran needs to protect residents of the city and surrounding communities and safeguard their interests.
