Lakeland Community Theatre: Save Our Home!

Lakeland Community Theatre: Save Our Home!
The Issue
Save the home of Lakeland Community Theatre! The Lake Mirror Complex which has housed our Civic Theatre for over 63 years and has been LCT’s home for the past thirty-five years is in danger of being no more. At a recent City Commissioners meeting, the Lakeland Economic Development Council proposed that the land at Lake Mirror on which our theatre stands be redeveloped for commercial usage. For over the past three decades, LCT has provided our community with high-quality productions (professionally produced and performed by local talent) at a low cost to patrons. We currently produce six Main Stage productions and three Stage Reads annually. In addition, our Educational programming includes a three-show Theatre For Youth Season; year-round camps, workshops, and classes; a senior theatre troupe; a Page to Stage traveling troupe bringing live theatre to under-resourced youth in local schools; and our groundbreaking Out of the Box theatre program for individuals with developmental disabilities. We are a nonprofit organization providing employment to over fifty artists a year, and our volunteers log tens of thousands of hours annually. LCT has trained thousands of young people in the Theatre Arts and we have over 500 Alumni who have gone on to pursue careers in the Arts, even on the Broadway Stage. Your Community Theatre has never been in a better financial state than it is today, but the fact is we could not withstand the devastating blow of losing our home.
The Arts and our Long Cultural Heritage are at stake. This is a call to action, LCT needs your help!
Please keep the performing arts alive in Lakeland, and preserve Your Community Theatre’s home!
