(Not to exclude others, but they were finally included)

Dr. Stevens’ from Quincy, Fl.,

Dr. Furlow from Memphis, Tn. was the only surgeon in Gadsden County,

Dr. LaSalle Leffall from Quincy Fl.

This wall on “The Block”, was very appropriate for those black faces because it was the side of Quincy Fl. where Doctors Stevens and Leffall were required to stay and Dr. Furlow experienced some of the same treatment.

”Gut Row, Nigger St, Colored St., The Block,” (was how the area was addressed) and a few other blocks south of hwy 90. Blacks were not allowed to shop, drink, party anywhere else in town or allowed to cross Jefferson Street (Hwy 90) after 6pm. Black people were restricted to those few blocks south of Hwy 90.
