Keep Plantasia open to the public.

The Issue

Plantasia is Wales’ only indoor living rainforest education centre with tropical plants and animals and is sadly under threat of closure due to local authority cuts.

Plantasia is home to around 45 species of animals, some of which are critically-endangered including Cotton Top Tamarin monkeys and a breeding group of Egyptian tortoises while others are endangered, threatened or vulnerable.

Over 80,000 annual visitors & over 10,000 school children a year are educated here on the importance of preserving the rainforest plants and animals and the significance it has on caring for the world we live in. Yet despite this the Local Authority are planning to cut down this unique and beautiful Rainforest and sell off the land……..a familiar story!!

It has been open for 25 years, with over 2 million visitors.

We understand that Local Authorities are having to make drastic cuts but surely this is very short-sighted and there must be other and alternative ways of keeping this vital Educational resource open?

We have until the middle of February to save our Rainforest and feel that at this late stage we need to get as much public awareness and publicity as possible so if there is any other way that you can support Plantasia and help to stop this travesty we would be very grateful.
