Hello All,

Friendly reminder, the Hampton, GA Equinix Data Center EPD Water Discharge Permit hearing is TONIGHT, Thursday, May 21st, at 7 pm at Hampton High School.

The EPD does hold the power to slow a project's progress and improve its impact on our community and water resources. It is designed to be a safeguard to protect our natural resources from irreparable harm. For the EPD to function as it is designed, we must show up and express our concerns regarding the impact the Equinix data center poses to our water quality.

See details below. Please share with interested parties. The more people who show up, the more we demonstrate what is at stake in approving the discharge water permit as it is currently written.

 📢CALLING HAMPTON RESIDENTS📢

🏭💧 EPD HEARING ON EQUINIX WATER DISCHARGE PERMIT💧🏭

🏡 Especially property owners living near the Equinix Data Center (off Lower Woolsey Rd) 💧

What: Hearing to comment on the Draft water discharge permit for Equinix

When: Thursday May 21st at 7pm

Where: Hampton High School, 795 Hampton Locust Grove Rd, Hampton, GA, 30228

Why this matters:

o Permit allows 350K gallons of water per day into Bear Creek and Clear Creek

o The Permit does not include stormwater as part of that 350K

o Bear Creek and Clear Creek feed the Flint River watershed, a local source of drinking water.

o No pollution controls are mandated as part of the permit.

o The wastewater often contains additives used in evaporative cooling systems (such as dispersants, biocides, and corrosion inhibitors) as well as heavy metals.

o Because roughly 80% of water used is evaporated, the remaining 20% is highly concentrated with any existing pollutants that were in the water and were added as a result of running through the Data Center cooling systems.

o The quality and amount of water of these creeks are at stake

Each person is allowed 3 minutes to speak. Comments should focus on the impact of the data center on our streams and water quality, but can also address concerns about water in general.
