Many states have chosen to allow formerly convicted felons to have their records expunged for employment, housing, and educational opportunities. Virginia is one of the last states to deny expungements, no matter how much time has passed and no matter how a felon may have proven that he has been rehabilitated from the sentence. The laws in place to prevent convicted felons from returning to normalcy are not only crippling but unconstitutional.
