Stop the Secure MI Vote Bill

Stop the Secure MI Vote Bill
The Issue
The Secure Our Vote bill is an attempt to make it harder to vote in Michigan. If enacted it would require Photo ID which is already required for voting in Michigan and would remove the ability to vote using a signed affidavit to declare identity and residence if they did not have their ID on them at the time of voting. There are many people such as the homeless or elderly who may not have an ID on them but should be allowed to vote. A valid photo ID is also already required to register to vote so this creates an extra hurdle for voters. The bill also makes it harder to get absentee ballots out to people who need them. It would also ban donors from giving money to municipalities to fund voting efforts. Michigan has many small villages and towns that cannot afford all of the equipment necessary to conduct secure elections without donor money and grants. This bill if signed could make it harder for many voters to vote and it is up to us, the people, to show we do not approve of this bill.
