Bengaluru's women are under attack ever since the New Year's eve incidents. The video which is now being circulated shows a woman being groped and molested in Kammanahali.

We as citizens of a wholesome metropolitan city cannot allow our women to feel unsafe in the city. What happened in Bengaluru should not happen again.

Here are the recommendations put forward-

- Strict implementation of section 354 A, B, C, D of The Criminal Law (Amendment) Act, 2013 which are criminal laws for any form of harassment for women

- Speedy justice to the victims affected by these incidents. Give a timeline by which you will give justice to these women. CCTVs were present during the entire New Year's event at the location and yet there have not been any formal arrests due to lack of evidence.

- Increasing the amount of patrolling at night especially during weekends, with areas experiencing high footfall and also sensitive areas. Deployment of permanent additional CCTVs in place to nab culprits easier.

- Hotspotting of areas which are marked by a majority of women as unsafe and increasing scrutiny and patrolling of such places.

- Strengthening the women police officers force to make it easier and more comfortable for women to report any sort of crimes against the. We commend the efforts to install new women police a few days ago.

- Screening and identification of members attending high footfall venues, especially in public spaces, for easier identification in case of untoward incidents. Restricting footfall to prevent law and order situations will also help.

- Bringing to justice quickly, the men who molested a woman in Kammanahali as per the CCTV video.

 - Booking non-bailable offences against the accused if found to be guilty of behavior, i e, outraging the modesty of a woman.

- For events in the future, additional security forces apart from the police must be in place with quick action response teams to prevent any untoward incident.

- In case of high footfall events, systematic arrangements of facilities and elaborate security arrangements should be put in place. The 1500 security personnel for the New Year's was not enough as the footfall was extremely high.

- We expect the new commissioner to be proactive with the citizens and make Bengaluru safe again.

- We seek for the commissioner to hold regular conferences to update the public regarding the crimes that have occurred so that there is no rumour mongering

- We commend the new commissioner's efforts to quickly resolve the investigations that have been undertaken during his brief tenure of just over a week now. We wish to see more actions soon.

- We propose the police department to start a campaign aimed at educating women, men and young children on how to report such incidents and actions to be taken as citizens of a society for better implementation of law, silimar to the Traffic Police campaign of don't drink and drive, which is very successful.

 Finally, we wish to hear very regularly, all the steps being taken to prevent and deter such events happening moving forward.
