The meat we eat is procured from animals who are treated inhumanely. Animals are kept in cages so small that they can barely move in them. Cows are taken away from their mothers at birth, and chickens are crammed into cages so small they cannot even flap their wings or clean themselves. Their cages are on an angle so that the eggs can roll down. Mother pigs are crammed into cages to get pregnant, so small that as the mothers try to lie down, they do not see any piglets that are underneath them, killing many piglets. The cages that the mother pigs are in have holes for manure, which many piglets fall through. Turkeys are detoed and debeaked in order for them to not hurt anyone, but so brutally that some beaks are cut off all the way up to the nostrils. All this cruelty can affect the workers as well, making them desensitized to what they are doing to the animals. So much killing has a negative mental affect on humans as well as animals.
