Must citizens of the State of New York and residents of Putnam County suffer in silence and frustration for years without recourse to remove public officials who are corrupt, incompetent or criminal?  The answer is a resounding NO.

TWENTY-NINE STATES HAVE ADOPTED RECALL OF PUBLIC OFFICIALS BY PETITION FROM ELIGIBLE VOTERS. IN LIGHT OF THE PERVASIVE CORRUPTION, INDICTMENT AND CONVICTION OF STATE AND LOCAL PUBLIC OFFICIALS, IT IS TIME THAT THE STATE OF NEW YORK ADOPT THE AVELLA/SEPULVEDA RECALL LEGISLATION PRESENTLY IN THE SENATE AND ASSEMBLY.

What is RECALL Legislation? This legislation would empower residents of the State of New York to initiate by petition to “recall” public officials.  If Recall legislation passes, 15% of eligible voters would be able to petition for the removal of a public official rather than having to wait out the full term of office.

Therefore, We, the residents of Putnam County, urge that the Putnam County Legislature memorialize/support for the Avella(Senate Bill- S942)/Sepulveda  (Assembly -A08682), Recall Bills urging an immediate vote and adoption.

Lastly, if malfunctioning cars are recalled, why not malfunctioning public officials?
