Elephants populations are being decimated as poachers feed consumer demand for souvenirs, trinkets, jewelry, objets d'art and collectibles made of animal ivory. Elephants are being killed so people thousands of miles away can have a shot glass or charm bracelet made from their tusks. 

The Great Elephant Census has documented a dramatic decline amounting to 30% of African elephants in the past 7 years alone.  Without immediate action to stop poaching, trafficking and trade in animal ivory, the species may be lost forever.  And until the trade in animal ivory is illegal everywhere, the slaughter will continue. 

We call upon you and your colleagues to do everything in your power to eradicate the animal ivory trade - first and foremost to enact global and national bans on all commerce in animal ivory.
