Stop the Weaponization Of Police Against Black People In Cincinnati

Stop the Weaponization Of Police Against Black People In Cincinnati
The Issue
BLACK PEOPLE THAT LIVE IN CINCINNATI SHOULD NOT HAVE TO LIVE IN FEAR that police will be weaponized against them by someone who makes a knowingly false police call or report to police. I'm asking Cincinnati City Council to either implement or increase the penalty for making reckless reports and/or knowingly reporting someone to the police based upon race/ gender or some other bias, to the maximum allowed under the law in the city of Cincinnati.
This would give a level of security to black families in particular, and all families in general that live in Cincinnati and it would send a message to the country that you will not be allowed to use our police force like a personal hit squad in this city.
My Name is Nathan and I am a proud black man that lives in Cincinnati, Ohio. I was born and raised in Cincinnati. I am a husband, father and an entrepreneur. I started this petition because of the look on my wife's face whenever I'm about to leave our home. I started this petition because my wife holds her breath in fear whenever I'm not at home or out late at night. She is worried in general, as any wife would be, for her husband; specifically she is worried about a bad interaction with law enforcement. There is a stress related to being black in this country that has yet to be quantified.
In NY recently, a woman was caught trying to weaponize the police against a black man who simply asked her to put a leash on her dog in the park. In fact, all over the country there are examples of black people being the victims of malicious police calls. The tragedy of George Floyd underscores the potential danger that this tactic poses to black people.
I'm asking Cincinnati City Council to implement or increase the penalty for making reckless and/or knowingly false police calls/reports based upon racial or any other type of bias. Doing so would send a message that Cincinnati is special and that those types of behaviors will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I would also ask that Cincinnati Police Officers ( if they are not currently) are trained on how to deal with these types of racially bias situations.
The black community should not have to live in fear of law enforcement being weaponized against them in the city of Cincinnati. Support this petition and send a message!
My wife will breathe easier if City Council acts on this. All black people that live in Cincinnati will breathe a little easier if you act on this. Too many black mothers, fathers, husbands, and wives worry about the safety of their loved ones when they leave the home. You have the ability to intervene!
*Update: Cincinnati City Council voted on a slate of ideas today ( 06/03/2020), including a motion that includes this idea. I think that it's still important to urge Cincinnati City Council to give the maximum penalty for malicious, bias police reports.
Please sign this petition in support of stopping the weaponization of our police force and in support of a safer Cincinnati. The last words of George Floyd were " I can't breathe" Help Black families breathe a little easier in Cincinnati.
