Let Us Play: Fall Sports

The Issue

Please just sign and spread. No donation needed. As a student-athlete who plays a fall sport, there is nothing I look forward to more during the school year than putting on my pads and helmet on Friday nights and representing my school and city. School is fun and very important, but sports are a large part of many students' lives. It keeps us active, helps us make/maintain friendships, and for some of us, pays for college. This petition is for anyone, but specifically for athletes and parents of athletes who play a fall sport. When 2020 started, I, like many others, was motivated. The school year was halfway over and my grades were doing well, and I could not wait to start training for my sport. Then in March, we started quarantine. It is now July, and it is looking like we will not be returning to sports this fall. I would rather play in an empty stadium than not play at all, and I think most student-athletes agree with me. The CIF, the governing body of sports in California meets on July 27 to decide whether we will play sports this fall. My high school district meets even sooner. Whether it is football, women's golf, women's tennis, cross country, volleyball, e-sports, or any other sport your school offers, reach out. Be heard. No matter where or who you are, whether you are in California or not, whether you play sports or not, whether you are a student or not, please join this movement. Our lives have been on hold for the last four months, and we would rather play safely than risk not playing at all. Join the movement, sign the petition, speak out and be heard. Please spread the word and the petition with anyone you know who would be willing to sign it. Let us play.
