Working in the Fitness industry comes with its fair share of positives and negatives. However, recent changes throughout the company, Chuze Fitness, have left employees at many locations feeling overworked, overwhelmed, and highly undercompensated. 

Chuze Fitness is a hallmark of many community gyms throughout Southern California, Colorado, New Mexico, Florida, and other states. While the equipment and amenities displayed throughout each facility are modern and always upkept, it is the staff at each location that is a major draw for many fitness advocates. 

Staff members at Chuze are the pinnacle of culture-based customer service. Many are known by name throughout multiple facilities due to their upstanding presence and swiftly efficient work ethic. Despite going above and beyond for the members, culture, and upper management, Chuze Fitness team members, supervisors, and leads are often barely paid above minimum wage. Staff members are also denied commission, pay incentives, tips, and bonuses for performance, despite working as operations members, day-care associates, salespeople, janitorial services, and smoothie bar members.

Discussion of subjects such as pay raise, or any related sentiment is often met with raised brows, talk of demotion, or barring from any further promotion. Despite similar community gyms having specialized departments for employees to be fairly compensated, Chuze Fitness seems to normalize the overworking and under-compensation of staff, while claiming it operates at competitive wages. 

As a member of this company, I have seen it go from a family-owned business that took pride in the development and promotion of each of its employees, to a greedy, profit-driven entity that is gaining traction at the expense of its employees.
